Get to know ITCFB, the Blind Community Literacy in Information Technology

Molotechno-Technology is now an important part of life as our less fortunate brothers are blind (unable to see). One application that is used by blind people is a screen reader. This software allows blind people to read content on cellphones and laptops.

The technologically literate blind community in Indonesia is the IT Center for the Blind or ITCFB. This is a community with blind members of technology activists and computer application development. One of the first programs developed by this community is access to the blind to the touch screen.

One of the founders of ITCFB, Aris Yohanes, said that at first he only wanted to tell the public about the field of ability possessed by blind people, not about music. "Blind people are also able and smoothly operating computers," Aris Yohanes said in South Jakarta, Friday, April 12, 2019.

The community that was founded in 2012 was under the guidance and supervision of Blind Coding, an inclusion organization that also developed information technology for the blind. The ITCFB community conducts various trainings, such as training in basic skills in information technology and computers, implementing applications, and programming languages ​​for the visually impaired.

Now members of ITCFB reach 2,500 people from various regions in Indonesia. Members of this community are blind people who like to tamper with computers for work or school. There are even members who collaborate with start-up application developers who are accessible and able to create simple sites.

The ITCFB community also produces sound altering, both in the form of webcasts or sound stories. "We use several programs, such as Gold Wave or Audacity," said Jejen Juanda, one of the members of the ITCFB community. The expositions of sound recording production were carried out by a team that was all blind. They share tasks, such as research, script writing, ability search, recording, altering, to add sound effects.
